1. Axes of the Practicum

1.2. Ethics as a reflexive activity

Ethical and global commitment is one of the transversal skills of the UOC, which is worked on in all the University’s degrees. This competence aims to train students to act in an honest, ethical, sustainable, socially responsible and respectful manner with human rights and diversity.

Throughout all the activities of the Practicum, different dimensions of this competence are worked on and evaluated, especially related to the following aspects:

  • The avoidance of academic plagiarism or any other improper work of third parties, and the correct citation of the sources used.
  • Respect for cultural and gender diversity, including non-sexist language.
  • The protection of the data and privacy of students and their families.
  • The design and evaluation of teaching intervention proposals while applying criteria of quality, sustainability and social responsibility.

Considering that ethical commitment requires a habit of personal reflection and an action consistent with one’s own values or moral reasoning, the Practicum fosters ethical reflection that makes the learning permeable, based on students experiences rather than abstract theory. It focuses on the specific cases and dilemmas they will have experienced during their stay at the educational institution, enabling them to become future teaching professionals.
