1. Axes of the Practicum

1.6. The communicative competence of the teaching staff

There are many reasons why it is considered a priority to promote the communicative competence of the teaching staff during the Practicum. Teaching communicative competence plays a key role in the generation of positive learning environments, and is also fundamental to fostering personal well-being and social relationships in teaching. In the same way, the teacher’s speech serves a model for the students and, therefore, it is necessary to attend to the aspects that make up the messages transmitted by the teacher in the classroom (the clarity of the ideas, linguistic correctness, precision, accuracy, respectful and inclusive language, etc.). We cannot forget, either, that communicating the specific content of the discipline within the framework of competency-based learning requires adapting the language to different registers that allow to negotiate meanings with the students.
