4. Methodology of the course

4.4. The assessment of the Practicum

In the context of the Practicum, due to the uniqueness of the training space it represents, continuous assessment (CA), which serves as a formative and progressive learning and evaluation approach, plays a significant role in determining the final course grade. In fact, the final qualification of the course is obtained from the following criteria:

  • The assessment issued by the Practicum professor (60%).
  • The assessment made by the mentor of the practical training center (40%).

With regard to the assessment of the Practicum professor, it must be taken into account that to pass the course it is essential to deliver and approve the six challenges that make up the continuous assessment. Since there is no final exam, failing the continuous assessment results in not obtaining the final qualification. Therefore, if the student fails the continuous assessment, they will not be able to pass the course.

The mentor of the educational institution evaluates the student’s performance at the end of each phase of the Practicum and issues a final report with the corresponding grade. In this sense, it is an indispensable condition that the student adequately fulfills the work plan established at the beginning of the practical training, under the supervision of their mentor, and that they attend all the training activities proposed.

Therefore, the final grade of the course takes into account both the final assessment by the educational institution’s mentor, with a weight of 40% of the final grade, and the continuous assessment grade of the virtual classroom activities provided by the Practicum professor, with a weight of 60%. To pass the course, a minimum score of five is required in both assessments.
